In Chile there are different technical careers related to the agricultural field, which will allow you to become an Agricultural Technician. Some educational institutions offer specific programs on this training, although there are some common areas of study in this career that we mention below:

  • Agronomy Technician: This specialty focuses on agricultural production, including knowledge of crops, soil management, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease control, agricultural machinery, among other related aspects.
  • Agricultural Technician: This branch of study focuses on animal production, including topics such as livestock breeding and management, dairy production, poultry farming, swine farming, animal nutrition, animal health and reproduction techniques.
  • Horticulture Technician: This specialty focuses on the cultivation of horticultural plants, such as vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants. You will learn about propagation techniques, greenhouse management, irrigation systems, disease and pest control, and marketing of horticultural products.
  • Viticulture and Enology Technician: This area focuses on grape production and winemaking. You will learn about vineyard management, harvesting techniques, winemaking processes, quality control, and aspects related to wine marketing.
  • Natural Resource Management Technician: This option focuses on the sustainable management of natural resources, including aspects related to soil conservation, water management, agroecology, environmental management and sustainable agricultural practices.

 

To enter an educational institution and study to become an Agricultural Technician in Chile, you must meet the admission requirements established by the institution of your choice. These requirements may vary, but usually include: the presentation of academic documents, such as a high school diploma, and passing the institution's selection process.

Of course, maintaining frequent contact with the field and having as much experience as possible are key aspects to enter the labor market in this field.
